Clinical Expectations and Student Clinical Placement

Per the programmatic accreditor, Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA), “the program must ensure that sufficient clinical sites/slots are available for students. The educational process must be continuous and not delayed at the scheduled start date for student clinical rotations. The program must ensure a clinical slot at the time of student admission to the program. If a clinical slot is assigned outside a customary commuting distance, the student must be informed of the assignment and agree to the assignment in writing prior to enrollment.”

GSC has priority placement within all of TriHealth’s Perioperative departments. However, no college including GSC has unlimited clinical space. External clinical affiliation(s) also assist the program to place a student in clinical and will vary depending on availability of each site.
